Drilling Cabin Control Panel
This is the operator point where the speed adjustment elements of the engines are gathered. In a GS740-3P installation the potentiometer of each channel is placed on this panel; the operator adjusts all three engines from one place, without going to the engine bay. Between the panel and the engines, ready-made wiring of 2 metres per channel with IP67 sockets is used.
Three things are decisive in setting up the panel.
- Layout: the potentiometers must be labelled so that it is clear which engine each belongs to. In drilling, turning the wrong channel means unintentionally changing the speed of a running pump.
- Signal route: the potentiometer line is an analogue signal. It must not be carried in the same bundle as power cables; shielded cable should be used if necessary and the shield connected at one end only, to the green wire on the GS740-3P.
- Distance: the kit comes with 2 metres of wiring per channel. If the cabin is far away, an extension is needed; in the extension, cross-section and shield quality directly affect signal stability.
If there is an emergency stop button on the panel, remember that it works through the engine's fuel shut-off chain, not through the speed control system. No emergency stop input is declared on the GS740-3P.
