Drawbar
The low towing point fixed to the tractor's rear body, to which trailed implements and trailers are attached. Thanks to its position close to the rear axle and low down, the overturning moment of the draft force stays small; this is why towing work is always done from here and never from the linkage.
The height and length of the drawbar are set by the manufacturer. Raising or lengthening the bar increases the overturning moment the draft force creates about the rear axle and raises the risk of the tractor rearing over backwards.
- Use only the holes and positions permitted by the manufacturer.
- Lock the bar for heavy draft work; a bar left free to swing is only used with suitable implements.
- The safety clip of the connecting pin is fitted every time.
- Extension adapters that lengthen the drawbar are not recommended, because they increase the moment arm.
Electronic retrofit kits do not connect to the drawbar and do not change the towing capacity. The LFT20, LFT54 and ELF-812 only make the linkage control electronic. After fitting the kit, trailers and trailed implements are still towed from the drawbar; the three-point linkage is not used for this job.
