Deutsch-Style Connector

Deutsch-style connectors are a family of sealed, locking, multi-pin connections widely used in vehicle and work machine wiring harnesses. Every strand passes through its own silicone seal and the pins are held in the housing by a separate locking wedge. They are the standard solution for harnesses working in vibrating and outdoor environments.

The distinguishing feature of this family is its two-stage retention. The pin first seats on the flexible tang in the housing, and then the locking wedge that is fitted supports all the pins from behind and prevents them backing out. The wire seal makes the circumference of each cable individually watertight, while the housing seal closes the two half housings against each other.

On vehicles where AXI remote controls, drivers and tractor kits are installed, you will often meet these connector types when interfacing with existing harnesses. Do not force the locking wedge when dismantling; releasing the pin with the proper extraction tool is far faster than replacing a broken housing.
