Delivery Note / Waybill
The document accompanying the shipment of goods, showing the items and quantities sent. Its difference from the invoice is that it documents not the price but the physical shipment. Comparing the package contents against this document on receipt is the fastest way to identify missing or wrong items.
The shipping document shows on which date, from where to where and with which items the goods were sent. The invoice documents the accounting record, the waybill the movement of the goods; together they give the full breakdown of the shipment.
- Compare the items and quantities one by one as you open the package.
- Accessories, cables and mounting parts may be shown on separate lines.
- If there is a missing or wrong item, report the finding without delay, together with photos.
In industrial control kits this comparison is especially important: a kit ships the receiver unit, the transmitter, the cable harness, sensors and connection elements together, and a single small missing part can cancel the commissioning day entirely. Keep the document together with the invoice and the order confirmation; it is the basic record showing the contents of the shipment in a later claim of incomplete delivery or defective goods.
