Damage Report
The document drawn up at the moment of delivery, in the presence of the carrier's staff, in cases where the package is dented, torn, wet or opened. Not accepting a damaged package without having a report drawn up is the most practical way to protect your right to claim for loss arising during transport.
Legislation holds the seller responsible for loss arising until the goods are delivered to the consumer. The report is the evidence showing whether the loss occurred before or after delivery; that is why a few minutes of checking at the moment of delivery replaces a long correspondence to be conducted later.
- Before signing, check the outer surface of the package together with the staff member.
- If there is damage, do not accept delivery, or accept it with a report noting the record.
- Ask for a copy of the report and take a photo of the package.
For damage or shortages noticed later while the packaging was intact, the finding must be reported without delay and with photos; the longer the time, the harder it becomes to show that the damage originated in transport. Since impact marks may not be visible from the outside on electronic control units, also inspect the board, connectors and enclosure by eye after opening the package. For the notification procedure and periods, the delivery and return terms on your order page apply.
