Automatic Levelling Cycle
The automatic levelling cycle is a sequential correction algorithm that starts with a single command. On the KTS200 it has four stages: the legs coming down one by one to touch the ground, correction of the front–rear slope, correction of the left–right slope, and fine levelling with micro corrections. According to the manufacturer's statement the cycle generally takes a few minutes.
Why is the cycle sequential? Because moving four legs at the same time leaves it unclear which leg is actually carrying load. The system first establishes a reference plane by lowering each leg separately, then makes the angular correction on that plane.
- Ground contact: the legs come down in turn starting from the lowest position, and the moment each one touches the ground is detected.
- Front–rear correction: the longitudinal slope is closed out.
- Left–right correction: the lateral slope is closed out.
- Fine levelling: the remaining angular error is brought down to the order of 0,025° in small steps.
The order of the stages matters: lateral correction also disturbs the longitudinal axis somewhat, which is why in the final stage both axes are trimmed together. Current protection and timeout control are active throughout the cycle; if an unexpected resistance or a time overrun occurs, the movement is cut. You can stop the cycle at any moment with the Emergency Stop command.
