Acceptance Criteria
An acceptance criterion is a previously agreed, measurable threshold that a delivered sample or series product must meet to be counted as "conforming". It defines the quantity to be measured, the condition and the limit value together: a threshold that does not state at which voltage, at which temperature and with which load it was measured is disputable.
A criterion consists of three parts: what is being measured, under which condition and within which limit. For example, "at 24 V supply and 10 A load, the voltage drop at the output terminals shall not exceed 0.8 V" is a complete criterion; "the voltage drop should be low" is not.
- Functional criteria: does every input drive the relevant output, is the behaviour correct at the ends of the adjustment range.
- Electrical criteria: no-load consumption, heating under load, the current at which the protection threshold trips.
- Endurance criteria: the function continuing at the end of the defined number of cycles.
- Visual and documentation criteria: the label, serial number, manual and wiring diagram being complete.
Criteria are written before sample approval. A criterion written afterwards is shaped by the parties' memories and prolongs the process. When measurement results are recorded, the same criterion also forms the basis for the functional test of series production.
