How does the levelling process work?

  1. Ground contact: The jacks extend in sequence; the moment each jack touches the ground is detected from the rise in current.
  2. Front-rear correction: The system first removes the longitudinal axis.
  3. Left-right correction: The lateral axis is corrected next.
  4. Fine correction: In the final stage, micro-corrections close the remaining deviation.

The order is not arbitrary. The longitudinal axis has the longer lever arm; correcting it also changes the lateral axis. An adjustment made in the reverse order is undone in the second step and the system starts hunting. This is why two-axis measurement is not a feature but a requirement.

Why look for manual control?

Automatic mode is usually sufficient, but installation, maintenance, and unusual ground conditions require manual control. A good system should offer single jack, paired group (right, left, front, rear), and all jacks options together. Group driving is also an architectural choice that limits peak current.
