How does the levelling process work?
- Ground contact: The jacks extend in sequence; the moment each jack touches the ground is detected from the rise in current.
- Front-rear correction: The system first removes the longitudinal axis.
- Left-right correction: The lateral axis is corrected next.
- Fine correction: In the final stage, micro-corrections close the remaining deviation.
The order is not arbitrary. The longitudinal axis has the longer lever arm; correcting it also changes the lateral axis. An adjustment made in the reverse order is undone in the second step and the system starts hunting. This is why two-axis measurement is not a feature but a requirement.

Why look for manual control?
Automatic mode is usually sufficient, but installation, maintenance, and unusual ground conditions require manual control. A good system should offer single jack, paired group (right, left, front, rear), and all jacks options together. Group driving is also an architectural choice that limits peak current.
Safety functions: not extras, but requirements
- Current protection: When a jack touches the ground and takes load, current rises; this is used both for contact detection and for overload protection.
- Timeout: A motion that does not complete within the expected time must be stopped.
- Emergency stop: The process must be interruptible at any moment.
- Retract all jacks: Retracting every jack with one command before driving off prevents damage from a forgotten jack.
- Zero reference (tare): The frame or the ground may carry a built-in tilt; the system has to learn the true "level" reference from the user.
What to watch during levelling
- Do not move around inside the vehicle during the cycle — the load center shifts and the measurement is corrupted.
- If the ground is steeper than the jack stroke can handle, move the vehicle; do not force the system.
- On soft ground, place a load-spreading pad under each jack.
- If work is to be done under the vehicle, use jack stands; a levelling system is not a substitute for stands.
